Can drawing be used to enhance memory retention?

Discover how retrieval practice combined with drawing strategies can help students' significantly outperform those who do not use practice retrieval after a delayed test.

Reflecting on my years as a secondary design and technology teacher, I recall the struggle to ensure students truly grasped complex topics. New research suggests combining retrieval practice with drawing strategies would have been a game-changer in my classroom! Encouraging students to sketch or map out concepts from memory not only enhances understanding but also strengthens long-term retention - an invaluable strategy today’s teachers!
